I use a timer to help keep track of music practice and other household activities. I've been disappointed with inexpensive wind-up timers - they typically stop working after anywhere from a week to a few months use, and their ticking is noisy (at least when I'm practicing music). This quartz timer from Sunbeam is about double the price of the wind-up timers, but it works like a charm. A light blinks to let you know it's working, and it's absolutely silent. Once time expires, the alert sound starts quietly and escalates if you fail to shut it off. Excellent design, a real improvement on the wind-up variety.Customer Review: great for easing transitions with child

This is a nice simple timer, easy to use. The beep gets louder if you don't get turn it off right away, which is a great feature.
We use it primarily for managing a 3yr-old's time, e.g. "when the timer goes off, TV time is over". There are other timers aimed at time management that cost 3 times as much.
We have not had any trouble with the battery falling out, and the red light in the corner blinks when the timer is "ticking" (silently) so we know if it is working.

This timer is top notch, espcially for the price! It is much more stable and reliable than the mechanical 60 minute timers. I had been looking for one of these quartz timers for two or three years after my old one from many years ago quit because of old age. I was so delighted to see that a new product of this type was put on the market again. Purchased this product after a timer that I used to own melted on the stove. I could not find a timer that would continue to get louder and make sure that you are aware the time has expired. This timer works great. I purchased a second one immediately after I received and tried the first out. I dont know what would happen if it is dropped on a ceramic floor, (it is very light) but so far it works great. Very happy with this purchase.Customer Review: so far so good

Well my Mom wanted to get a really loud timer, we got a new stove and the thing just does not allow you to time above 10 mins (isn't that ridiculous?) anyway my Mom frequently cooks and sometimes pops into other rooms to do stuff so she wanted a timer that should she leave it somewhere instead of taking with her she could her it LOUD AND CLEAR. And Loud and clear is what she got.....so far sogood with it.
Good buy!
