Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cook-Rite, 90308, Glass Candy and Deep Fry Thermometer

Customer Review: inexpensive and good cooking thermometer
Summary: 5 Stars

works great - no problems - the clip is handy since its adjustable and you can use it to keep the thermometer at the right level. I use it for testing the milk temp in making yogurt

Customer Review: Works and features large numbers
Summary: 5 Stars

This is great for older folks with bad eyes (like my mom) as the numbers are very large on this thermometer. Works great and is a steal @ $5

Customer Review: FANTASTIC!
Summary: 5 Stars

I couldn't have bought a better one. I've used this for candy making and deep frying- and it's easy to read, to use and to clean!

Customer Review: Love it!
Summary: 4 Stars

I seldom cook, but wanted to make my mother-in-law's recipe for pecan pralines. I bought this thermometer just for that. And I'm really glad I did, because it worked great for a novice like me. The clip slides up and down to adjust to the depth of your pan (the tip shouldn't touch the bottom). The built-in temperature list was useful. The numbers on the thermometer were easy to read. I'm glad it had a protective cover since the thermometer is glass, but wish it stayed in place better. I wound up storing it in a baggie to protect it better.

Customer Review: Fairly accurate, not too slow
Summary: 4 Stars

I have three glass candy thermometers and this is the best of the bunch. They are all a little slow to respond but this one is actually pretty good. Nice big size, clear and easy to read. Good clip that holds reasonably. None of these clips are ideal, they never are but what are you gonna do? The Polder one I have has a real flimsy clip and the Taylor one I have is too slow. I would go with this one as far as the cheaper glass thermometers go.
