The battery clearly is easy to replace. You just pull out the battery holder, take the old battery out, & put a new one in. The thermometer must have been improved since earlier reviews, which said a screwdriver was needed.
I also noticed that the temperature reading becomes stabilized sooner when the probe is placed in the item whose temperature you're measuring, BEFORE you turn it on.
A great item. I may buy more, as gifts.

This is one of those things that you might think you will never need and now you can't live without. I use it every day and it makes life easier and prevents food products from becoming over or under cooked. It reads instantly and has a wide temperature range. It can fit like a pen in a pocket. The gauge is easy to read and has different settings. The price is great on this model as well and I believe Taylor is a long established company.Customer Review: Great product, Great Shipping

This was a gift for a friend that home brews beer. He needed a thermostat that was able to be calibrated for accuracy. Most of the ones you find in local stores do not have this feature. If they do they cost a lot more. Upon receiving this gift he opened it and calibrated it. It was only off by .1 degree F. You cannot beat the product for anywhere near this price. I recommend to anyone that need accuracy in cooking or brewing.Customer Review: How did I ever live without it?

This thermometer is excellent. I can't believe I've gone so long without a good digital thermometer like this. I've used it when steaming milk for espresso, checking water temperature for bread recipes (no more guessing and killing yeast!), checking the internal temperature when microwaving leftovers, etc.
Bottom line, great thermometer, great price. If you're looking for a thermometer, look no further!

This is a great little thermometer. It is very accurate right out of the box and has the ability to be calibrated if necessary. I have dunked it in water and it hasn't missed a beat, although I do hand wash it as I would be a little weary running it through the dishwasher. Tiny electric devices in the dishwasher seems to be just asking for trouble. Bottom line is that its a great little thermometer.
