I bought it because I make ice cream at home and I need exact temperature readings (I use the "How to make ice cream" book that you can find here - superb book).
4 stars because the clip is not strong enough to keep the thermometer up when stirring the mixture while cooking.

Stainless Steel Candy & Deep Fry Thermometer, 2-1/2" Dial Type, Adjustable Pan Clip, Preset Indicator, Fahrenheit & Celsius Scales, Dishwasher Safe.Gauging the perfect temperature for raspberry jam or grape jelly is key to a successful batch.
