I purchased this to use when microwaving frozen dinners. With the recent salmonella and e-coli problems, and now that some packages indicate that the contents should be heated to 165 F degrees, I wanted to see how my 700 watt oven was performing. This item seems well built, it seems accurate and responds quickly enough. My only complaints are, and maybe I didnt read the description correctly, are that the dial is just too small to read easily and there is no dial indicator to show the desired temperature.Customer Review: Does what it says!

Its adjustable, works well, well made and accurate providing you've calibrated it correctly (a very easy process).
I wish it had a clip to clip to the side of a pot but it doesn't so I had to make my own!

I got it to measure the temperature of water as I made slow-poached eggs (a la Momofuku's cook book). It works well, but I wish it came w/ a clip or something to attach it to the side of the pot, w/out touching the pot.Customer Review: Works fine

I bought five of them for my daughter's science project. There are small variation in the reading between them at the same temperature. But then these aren't lab grade thermometer. They worked fine.
