I choose this Taylor scale because the smooth surface allows for more room to weigh food. Also, there are no edges to restrict the use of a bowl. I am tring to lose weight and this has been a great help in making sure that I eat correct portion sizes. It does shut down a little quick but I haven't found it to be a big issue. Usually you are ready to weigh when you turn this on anyway if not it powers up in an instant so no problem. I have had this scale for about a year and a half and I haven't been disappointed! It is compact for easy storage, lightweight, and easy to clean. You can choose between grams and ounces, zero out when you are using a container so that you only weigh the food or zero out as you continue to add items to the bowl so that you get an accurate weight for each item.
