This is a great and cheap timer. We needed it for a large-scale speaking competition in which the speakers had time limits and volunteers were used to time them. This product was easy for the person timing the competition to learn and use.
We are saving these timers until next year. I wish they had an on/off switch. Because they don't, and we don't need all of the timers until next year, we had to remove all the batteries.

This timer was purchased as a 1 min. timer for students reading for fluency. It serves that purpose well, especially for older students or most
younger ones who have been taught to use it. In addition, it can be used for a variety of other timed activities with the 'counting-up' feature, also displaying the running seconds. The one thing that I really like is that it uses one AAA battery so it can be easily replaced when needed.

I was looking for a small, portable timer like this. Main reason I purchased this one was reading previous reviews; I did not want a very loud timer, just a pleasant but persistant beeper. Shipping costs and packaging a little over-kill for something so small, but I'm very happy with it. Easy to use, easy to take with me. The timers work fine (it's been 3 months). I bought 8 for my reading class for timed readings. The beep is not too loud, at least it doesn't seem to distract the students. I like how it counts up and down, which most timers don't have. It's also great that it counts up to 99 minutes. The Pyrex timers only count up to 20 minutes. This timer counts up and it counts down. It has a magnetic back. It's sturdy. If it only times to 10 minutes, it would have met my needs. If you want a timer that does more, get the Polder 362-90. If you want to time three minutes per side of a teak on a BBQ, this is the one for you and the price is right, too though I wasn't terribly happy about the shipping.
