This is a great little timer at a great price - fits our needs perfectly!
Customer Review: Great Item For the Money Summary: 5 Stars
This timer is a great deal for the money. It serves it's purpose well.
Customer Review: wonderful little timer Summary: 5 Stars
I works just like I wanted it to work. I really like it.
Customer Review: Works for Me Summary: 4 Stars
What the other reviewers are saying about the low sound quality is true, you will not be able to hear the beep if you are in another room. However, it works for me since I use this timer to time myself in practice exams. I am usually in the library studying, and of course timing myself and it does not usually bother the people around me.
You can hold the minutes and seconds button down to silently set the time instead of hearing a beep for each min/sec pressed. The plastic face will eventually be scratched with wear and tear.
Cons:
-No-name cheap battery
-The magnet on the back is attached to the battery lid, and the lid, while not having a cheap-feel, still seems like it can chip or break, whereas than you would need some tape.
-The battery lid will also suffer from the constant pulling of the magnet away from whatever it's sticking to, meaning the lid isn't as secure as it could be
-No on/off switch, so the battery will drain...but I don't think it needs that much juice to function
Pros:
-The magnet on the back is strong
-Small, convenient, works as expected
-Good price (I've seen some other ones out there that is better, like faberware, but you can't beat $5)
-The wire-band resistance thingy for the clip is also strong, so you can clip it on anything deems fit and it will stay
I only gave it a 4 out of 5 because I've had it only for a couple of weeks. After some more time, I'll come back and give it a 3 or 5 out of 5 depending on how well it keeps.
Customer Review: Countdown Timer for the Sports Enthusiast Summary: 4 Stars
This Taylor timer has three clearly marked buttons and a large visual display. These features make it an attractive choice for people who do not want a whole lot of bells and whistles. I have used this timer for two years as a handheld stopwatch in physical workouts to measure the duration of martial arts stances. I have also used it for testing and timing sparring matches.
Features include:
*Count in ascending or descending order.
*Select time in seconds or in minutes for countdown. (up to 99 Min. 59 sec.)
*Hold down the Second or Minute button to select the number quickly.
*Audible beep confirmation when it hits zero.
*Automatically resets to preset time at completion; stop & restart for time-outs.
This timer has a memory feature that allows me to punch the START button, and it will count down the same interval (say 3 minutes, 45 seconds) over and over again. It will CLEAR when I hold down the Minutes and Seconds buttons simultaneously.
It has a magnetic clip on its backplate. I do not use the magnet, just clip it to my belt. Not recommended for kitchen use. It cannot be dropped in boiling water, and the beep is very quiet. Sticky, greasy fingers would probably gum up the front buttons and slip on them. I use my old faithful mechanical wheel Mirro in the kitchen.
Downside:
*Flimsy backplate to hold batteries in place.
*No power shut off button.
*Instructions are printed on the package instead of on a separate sheet.
