Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Taylor Digital Minute/Second TimerCustomer Review: easy to use Summary: 4 Stars
I am an elementary school teacher & bought these for a small group of 4th graders. They are working on reading fluency & love timing themselves to see if they have reached or exceeded their own personal words-per-minute goal.
I like the fact that they're not too expensive, easy to use & they can count up or down.
I gave them a 4 out of 5 because one of them came with a crack in the display window & the little spring that holds the "stand-up" mechanism comes apart pretty easily & is almost impossible to fix once it's broken.
Customer Review: Just needs easier reset Summary: 4 Stars
This is a nice little timer, and the fact it counts up as well as down is a bonus. Versatile mounting: a stand for tabletops, a magnet, and spring clip. My only issue is that resetting takes two hands or fancy fingerwork: You reset by pressing both the minute and the second button simultaneously. It seems there should be a separate reset button, or press-and-hold the stop button to reset. While they're at it, they should throw in a 10-min button, to increment in 10 minute chunks. Then it would be the mother of all timers.
Customer Review: Still working Summary: 4 Stars
I've had this timer for about 4 years. It's very cheap and cheaply made. The front cover fell off long ago. The magnet isn't very good, and it's easy to knock off the refrigerator. The battery has to be replaced every 6 months or so. Why four stars? Because it still works! It's taken a serious beating (I'm not very careful in the kitchen), and has outlasted others that I've bought to replace it. Some people have said the beeper isn't loud enough, but it's pretty deafening if you're in the kitchen with it.
Customer Review: most features for your money Summary: 4 Stars
Counts up -and- counts down. Bought 5 for GED Preparation classes so students could time their mini book tests and practice tests. Timer is supposed to clear when you press two buttons at once. It is VERY hard to clear, or I would have given 5 stars. So far, standing up well to student use. Several have been dropped and still work fine. Also, large numbers, easy to read across the classroom.
Customer Review: Great for sales Summary: 4 Stars
I'm in sales and wanted a timer that would let me know how much time I'm actually on the phone with prospects (cold calls mostly). This timer is great because it counts UP the time so I can start with zero minutes, start & stop the timer at the beinning & at the end of a conversation (keeping a running tab of the total minutes), and know at the end of the day the total time I spent prospecting.
