Customer Review: Not quite "instant"

I love this thermometer. It's easy and accurate. It's fairly easy to clean but I wouldn't submerge the dial in water for fear of moisture sinking under the plastic cover. My only issue with this thermometer is that it's not quite as "instant" as I thought it would be. You stick it into the meat and it'll jump up pretty fast but once it gets within 15 or so degrees of the meat's actual temperature, the needle starts to crawl. I've stood for almost a full minute at most with the oven door open, which lets the oven's heat out, waiting for the needle to finally come to a halt. This is most annoying when I'm roasting in the summer.
Other than that I can't complain. It's small and compact, I just toss it in the drawer with the rest of my flatware.

This thermometer instantly ascertains the temperature of foods, whether they're on the buffet line or being cooked. Its 1-3/4-inch dial, protected by a shatterproof polycarbonate lens, displays temperatures from 0 to 220 degrees F, calibrated in 2-degree increments. The thermometer comes with a plastic pocket case and has a 5-inch stainless-steel probe. Should it seem to be off kilter, you can recalibrate the thermometer by twisting the hexagonal hub beneath the dial with pliers.
