Though it's designed for professional kitchens, the scale serves household cooks as well. It has a 10-pound capacity (5000 grams) and measures in ounces or grams. A button converts weight on the 1/2-inch LCD digital-display screen from fractional ounces to decimal ounces or to grams. (The scale weighs in increments of 1/8 or 1/4 ounce, 0.1 or 0.2 ounce, or 5 grams.) A tare button returns the scale to zero when measuring ingredients in sequence without removing them from the platform, or it offsets a container's weight. Another button holds a weight for 10 seconds, even after the load has been removed. Operating with a 9-volt battery (not included), the scale shuts off automatically after three minutes without use and has a low-battery indicator; the scale also operates with an AC adapter (included). The 8-1/16-by-5-inch platform is corrosion-resistant, easy-cleaning stainless steel for proper food sanitation.
